Caring Closet
Several years ago The
Foundation members
recognized that some students were having difficulty thriving in school due to their family's
inability to provide basic
needs.

The Caring Closet was established to
assist these families in meeting needs
that might otherwise be left behind. Read "Why we do this"

How we help
Student's Donate BooksSchool clothing, school supplies and backpacks -- items that many of us take for granted -- are instrumental for a child's development. The Caring Closet helps disadvantaged families in our school district by providing clothes, shoes, school supplies, hygiene items, and emergency bedding.

Students are referred by school principals, teachers or counselors. Families are then contacted, and a personal “shopping” appointment is scheduled.

How you can help
Donate your new or slightly used children's clothing, suitable for school. All sizes are needed, as students range from K-12. Donations are accepted on Wednesdays or Thursdays from 10-4. If questions, call 503 603-1576.

Are you a family in need?
We see families by appointment only. To make an appointment, please contact your school counselor or teacher.

Volunteer your time, energy or ideas
Volunteers are always welcome. Do you work with a youth group that needs a service project? We can always use the help of individuals, families or groups for special projects, sorting and hanging items, or working with families. Call and leave a message at the closet 503.603.1576 or email Marilyn Hassmann.

Community Connections
Do you know any businesses, churches or youth/community groups that might be willing to partner with the Caring Closet? We welcome groups for a tour and will speak at meetings. Give us a call!

Financial support
While the closet is open to receive donations of gently used clothing items, other items must be purchased. We need your help to have new socks, new underwear, and new shoes for the hundreds of students we serve. Make a donation online today and be sure to specify the Closet.
